Sat/Sun, January 23-24, 2010

Saturday night here at Carbery Cottage was a feast of food and music.  And today Kevin and I drove to the Bantry Pony Trekking Equestrian Center for their horse show.

The main house was host to Mary Green and Noel Shine with Ellie as part of their concert series.  A buffet was included with admission.

An eclectic group of people from the peninsula gathered to share the evening.  More than twenty people were seated for dining at an assortment of tables throughout the main floor of the house.  Our table even included a young woman visiting from North Carolina.  Lively conversation preceded the dinner bell.

Julia and Mike (owners of Carbery Cottage) prepared all the food.  Poached salmon, tandori chicken, lasagna, meat pasties, two quiches, homemade macaroni and cheese, ginger rice, three salads, garlic bread, chocolate cake and lemon cheesecake.  Everything was most delicious.

The musical entertainment took place in a very intimate setting.  Mary and Noel were a delightful surprise.  Their guitar playing was only surpassed by their singing voices.  Midnight, and time to walk home (next door) came quickly.

Today, Sunday, was a pleasant drive through the countryside to the hillside surrounding Bantry.  Of course, it was raining, but we were not deterred.

This sheep was wearing a loud bell, barely seen behind the leather strap of his collar.

This one reminds me of Tizan . . . .

We had to leave - the aroma of burgers and chips was overpowering.

And notice the rear view mirror now intact, thanks to Kevin's wonderful repair.

The view on the Peninsula was breathtaking as we drove home.
