Carol from Canada and Hazel from Bantry, thanks for all your terrific suggestions of places to visit and routes to reach them.
Hopefully, Kevin and I will be horseback riding on Monday at Eclipse in Kenmare, if the weather permits, so we'll be enjoying another day of travel in that direction.
A day of sunshine, a day of rain and gusty winds, a day of sunshine, a day of rain and gusty winds, this has been the pattern lately. So, it figures that today is indeed a day of rain and gusty winds.
No photos from us today.
Kevin and I slept in late, enjoyed our Frosties with bananas and nice warm scones with Irish butter. I've acquired a fondness and preference for Earl Grey tea, mmmmm good.
Looks like DVD time. "Steal This Movie" about Abbey and Anita Hoffman's life has been on our watch list for too long. Today's the day.
Stay warm and well, my friends.
Glad you are enjoying your stay in our part of the world. i live just outside Bantry and seeing your photographs of the area reminds me how lucky I am to live here! If you get another fine day, don't know how long more you are staying, i would suggest a drive through the Healy Pass. The best way to approach it is from Adrigole On the Castletownbere you may remember a sharp left after a bridge, well go right here and continue through the hills on a narrow winding road over the Pass and down the other side to Kenmare. You can then (after a visit to Kenmare) come back via the Tunnel road, into Glengarriff and back to Bantry and then Kilcrohane. Allow a full day.
ReplyDeleteAnother dive would be through Glengarriff take the right fork at the end of the village heading to Kenmare. About a mile on the road you will see the sign for the National Park drive in there, park your car and follow the signs for various walks.
Mizen Head is another great drive.
